Another great client of ours did the most cute party, using one of our childhood favs- BARBIE! When she emailed me about me about the theme, I was giddy and immediately whipped up something very modern, yet oh-so Barbie! Below click on the invite (front and back of course)…Enjoy!
Mama says to make Easter EGGSTRA special for the wee ones this year and think recycle. Kiddos always seem to have a huge collection of stuffed animals, and I bet if you look in the toy bins there will be a multitude of bunnies to choose from. If not, they are readily available at your dollar store or Target. Tying an organza or tuille bow around their little necks and grouping them on your table along with some brightly colored eggs (plastic ones are cheap and breakable since we all know that accidents do happen). Add a little Easter “grass” to set them in and enjoy! You can also make a cool eggs or a garland with your kids using materials you have around the house. You will need: small balloons, embroidery floss, scissors, pin, a fabric stiffener such as Stiffy, and string. To make the eggs:
1. Blow up balloons and tie off. Make them small to realistically resemble eggs.
2. Cut your floss in long lengths. About 2 feet long.
3. Pour the stiffener into a small bowl. Dip the floss into the stiffener and soak. Pull each length out and get rid of the excess by running the floss through your fingers.
4. Wrap the floss around the egg. Make crisscross patterns and cover it until it looks how you’d like. Don’t be afraid to use different colors on one egg.
5. Tie the string to the knot. Hang them to dry overnight. They need to be thoroughly dry.
6. After it is completely dry, pop the balloon with the pin. Gently pull the balloon out through an opening in the floss.
Whenever we get to custom design invites and help “spice” up the party with our favor labels, cupcake toppers, etc it makes us giddy. Seriously giddy, like a little school girl. When Sara brought us the ‘Stache Bash theme, we were hot to trot. We did super cute plate stickers, favor labels and of course a 2-sided invite…
A few months back, one of our favorite clients asked us to design a super fun and artsy birthday invite for her son’s third birthday. She wanted bright colors and a quote from Picasso. Well, of course! We’re pretty sure this invite came out super cute and we were thrilled to do a few more details for the party, including favor stickers, plate and popcorn cup labels. If you have a theme in mind for a party, let us know! We love custom orders!
Last year, I became quite fascinated by the ‘decorated cookie.’ This love affair, although not desirable for someone who cannot bake, became quite a fun little project for me during my days as “Room Mom” at Luke’s school. You see, the apple does not fall far from the tree, just ask my mom aka, “The Ultimate Room Mom and Volunteer Extraordinaire.” I follow in her footsteps to make my room parties the best parties. The party all the other kids want to come to. The party that makes the other Room Mom re-think her next move. Hence, the decorate cookie.
While on Pinterest (my nightly go-to application to feel creative or be inspired), I started spotting all these beautiful cookies. Cookies with lace icing, button noses, layers upon layers of royal icing. They were magical. So, I took a class, learned the technique of icing, and have been trucking along. I should add that my cookies are no where near this fabulous, but I am certainly working on it. Check out some of these most fab cookies!Happy Decorating!

Ok, so like many of you, one of my goals this year was to cook more hot meals for my family. With a full time job, a hubby and son, and Between the Sheets Co., that is sometimes more than a challenge. However, thanks to this great invention of Pinterest (LOVE!), I’ve been able to come up with some pretty tasty dinners! Here’s a side dish that is delish and EASY! Goes great with chicken or beef and can be served along side a salad!
Ingredients
12 whole New Potatoes (or Other Small Round Potatoes)
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
Kosher Salt To Taste
Black Pepper To Taste
Rosemary (or Other Herbs Of Choice) To Taste
Preparation Instructions
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add in as many potatoes as you wish to make and cook them until they are fork-tender.
On a sheet pan, generously drizzle olive oil. Place tender potatoes on the cookie sheet leaving plenty of room between each potato.
With a potato masher, gently press down each potato until it slightly mashes, rotate the potato masher 90 degrees and mash again. Brush the tops of each crushed potato generously with more olive oil.
Sprinkle potatoes with kosher salt, fresh ground black pepper and fresh chopped rosemary (or chives or thyme or whatever herb you have available.)
Bake in a 450 degree oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
